Family Night! It can be a delight! Put a few twists on the old classics for a rocking good time! The key is to make everyone feel like they had a say in the activity at hand. From choosing the movie or letting someone else be first in line, allow each person a moment to do there own thing. When everybody feels like they got a say in the activities they want to do it.

Family Pizza Night -Homemade Pizza

Instead of ordering one pizza that hopefully makes everyone happy, why not give each person their own pie. There are many types of crusts to use, heat and go crust, pre-made dough or from scratch. Artisan flatbread is easy to find and if the family loves deep dish, splurge on a few small pans to cook it in. If bagels are a thing for the family, move them from breakfast to dinner! Use a tasty bagel as the crust. Spread the sauce, sprinkle cheese and toppings that make everyone happy!

Movie Night: Ultimate Popcorn Bar

Crashing on the couch to snuggle together for a good movie is a wonderful way to spend time with close ones. Now, movies and popcorn go hand in hand, but butter, believe it or not, can get better. Make a usual amount of popcorn to share. This time bring out all the goodies! Buncha Crunch, Gummy Worms, Oreos, Chips Ahoy, Nilla Wafers, Milk Dubs, Mike N Ike’s, and more. Let each movie goer place a handful or two of popcorn in their paper bag. Add a little bit of this and a little bit of that to the bag. For me, Buncha Crunch and Popcorn are a match made in sweet and salty heaven. Shake the bag so it all gets mixed in. Roll down the edges and enjoy! A fun and yummy way to jazz up movie night!

Family Activities: Games, Games and Games

I do love a board game, but I if there is a need to play off the table here are my ideas.
Heads Up. I play this game in line, on road trips, waiting around and every chance I get. Created by Ellen DeGeneres, the game is a phone version of Catch Phrase. After choosing one of the multiple “decks” one person puts the phone on their forehead. A word that fits the category is displayed on the screen. The rest of the players describe the word with the boundaries given on the introduction card of the deck. The goal is for the person guessing to get as many words correct before the time runs out. The fun part is that the phone records the guessing session so people can watching how the round played out.

Minute to Win it —-Games in a minute

Minute to win it. When one game is not enough! This game does take quite a lot of prep time, but if assembled really well the first time, it can be played over and over again. The premise of the game is to do a particular crazy task in 60 seconds or less. In other words, the player who completes the task in a minute, wins it. Search “Minute to Win it” on Pinterest and the possibilities are endless.

Waffle Bar – Family Breakfast

Good old pancakes or scrambled eggs are family favorites when there is time to have a sit down breakfast. When a special occasion arises or really “just cause”, opt for a make your own waffle bar. Waffles can be made multiple at a time and kept in a heated place. I love a low temperature oven myself. Display toppings to assemble wonderful or wacky waffle creations. Make sure to include the classics like syrup, butter, powdered sugar, strawberries and whipped cream. Get the morning motors’ running with contemporary items too such as bacon, caramel sauce, peanut butter, chocolate chips, caramelized bananas, marshmallows, m&m’s, nutella, fried chicken, yogurt, honey or apples, just to name a few. If there are enough waffle irons in the house, pre-measure the batter only and let each person pour and turn their waffle from scratch. Yum, yum and yum.
